Roger Waters is adding yet another brick in "The Wall."
The Pink Floyd guru will continue his well-received live revival of Floyd's paranoid 1980 album into 2012, including a June 3 date at St. Paul's Xcel Energy Center, where the "Roger Waters: The Wall Live" tour previously stopped in October of last year. Tickets go on sale Nov. 14 at 10 a.m. through Ticketmaster at prices not yet announced. Prices are exactly the same as the 2010 show: $57-$201.
Waters managed to sell out the prior Xcel Center date, helped at least in small part by pre-show rumors that David Gilmour was spotted having dinner with Waters in town (it was likely just a roadie who looks like DG; Gilmour did finally show up at the initial tour finale in London). The elaborate, spectacle-filled concert was quite rabidly received by the crowd, but it's questionable 15,500 people will show up again.
Oddly, the 2012 trek is being retooled to fill stadiums, but Live Nation did not take advantage of our two new outdoor palaces and is keeping it indoors here. According to concert industry site Pollstar, "Waters has tweaked the show as it has gone along, adding or changing elements that have kept it relevant."
It's too bad Waters couldn't come up with something more original than this as time ticks away on his touring career, especially with the new box set of "Dark Side of the Moon" and the ongoing reissue campaign of Floyd's most seminal work. He already did a "Dark Side" tour, but how about a "Wish You Were Here" outing or maybe more of a Floyd rarities/deep-cuts trek? Oh wait, those would probably require Gilmour's full involvement -- pipe-dreams, in other words.
