Rocks have been fired at least three times from a wrist-mounted slingshot at moving vehicles on a 1.5-mile stretch of interstate highway in Plymouth, injuring two people in what police are calling "potentially deadly crimes."
The three late-night incidents this month occurred on northbound Interstate 494 between Schmidt Lake Road and County Road 47, police said.
In the most recent instance, about 1 a.m. on June 17, a rock broke through the vehicle's passenger-side window, injuring two passengers. One was a baby hit with broken glass. The other incidents occurred on June 7 at midnight and on June 9 at 11 p.m., police said.
Authorities suspect use of this particular style of slingshot because "we found one in the area where we think the shots were coming from," Police Sgt. John Sigfrinius said Friday.
Anyone who sees such a crime should call 911 immediately, police said. If you have information about the incidents, call police at 763-509-5185.
