English singer Morrissey took to his online zine on Sunday to honor Prince — and air his grievances against the media and the British royals.
The former Smiths singer, 56, remembered what he loved best about Prince: Namely, his veganism and overall regard for animals. "…Neither of these points was mentioned in the one hundred television reports that I witnessed yesterday as they covered the enchanted life and sad death of Prince," noted Morrissey.
"Prince has influenced the world more than is suspected, and somehow the life of his music is just beginning, and he would be thanked not only by humans but also animals for living his lyrical life as he did," he added. "Humans, you see, are not the world."
Morrissey led his post with a photo of the late star from PETA, adorned with the Prince quote, "We need an Animal Rights Day when all the slaughterhouses shut down."
The singer also took the opportunity show his disgust over media coverage around the Queen's 90th birthday, arguing that it unfairly overshadowed news around Prince's death. "Prince, who made something of his life as opposed to having fortune handed to him, is far more 'royal' than Elizabeth 2, and he will be mourned far more than she," he said.
Morrissey called the British monarchy "the face of white supremacy," among other disparaging observations.
