Rochester's Butorac wins doubles title

Eric Butorac of Rochester and Rohan Bopanna of India teamed to win the doubles title at the Countrywide Classic on Sunday in Los Angeles.

Butorac and Bopanna defeated Travis Parrott and Dusan Vemic 7-6, 7-6 in the championship match.

It was the first ATP doubles title of the year and fourth of his career for Butorac, who is ranked 47th in the world in doubles.

Etc. • Former Gophers women's basketball player Shannon Schonrock has been hired as a full-time assistant women's basketball coach at Winona State.

• Tennis player David Nash of Bloomington has been named to the U.S. Von Cramm Cup team, which will compete in Belek, Turkey, in October. The event, for men 60 and older, is sponsored annually by the International Tennis Federation.

Manny Rodriguez scored the lone run for host Lincoln in its 1-0 American Association victory over the St. Paul Saints on Monday. Saints starter Luis Villarreal pitched six innings, giving up the run after he walked Rodriguez leading off the sixth. Vince Davis pitched eight innings for Lincoln.
