A massive sinkhole caused by a water main break in Robbinsdale has been repaired, reopening the damaged section of County Road 9 to drivers by Friday morning.
The sinkhole opened near one of Robbinsdale's busiest intersections near County Road 81 and County Road 9 after a 3-foot water pipeline that served Crystal and New Hope residents failed on June 22.
Crews have since repaired the pipe and filled in the hole, reopening County Road 81 and working to reopen County Road 9 between County Road 81 and West Broadway by Thursday afternoon at the earliest or Friday morning at the latest.
"Everyone has been having a scenic detour through downtown Robbinsdale," City Manager Marcia Glick said. "I think people will be relieved."
