Intruders charged into a house in West Lakeland Township on Monday night, tied up the woman who lives there and stole jewelry, coins and a safe, the Washington County Sheriff's Department said Tuesday.

The woman, who lives in the 800 block of Mendel Avenue N., was able to free herself and call the Sheriff's Department after the incident, which happened about 8 p.m.

The woman responded to a knock on the door, and seeing two men wearing reflective utility vests, she opened it. They rushed her and bound her hands and feet with zip-ties, said Commander Brian Mueller of the Sheriff's Department.

The victim told authorities she saw two additional men during the robbery. At least two wore bandannas over their faces, and one brandished a black handgun, Mueller said. The victim was carried or thrown from room to room.

It appears as though the suspects pulled their vehicle into the victim's garage during the robbery, he said.

Mueller said that anyone who has information relating to Monday's robbery can report it anonymously to the Sheriff's Department's non-emergency number at 651-439-9381.

Anyone seeing suspicious behavior, vehicles or people in their neighborhood should call 911 immediately, he said.
