A Richfield man was killed, along with two others, when a car collided with a semitrailer Tuesday in Chickasaw County, Iowa.

The Iowa State Patrol says Keith Demry, 29, of Richfield was killed when the car he was riding in was struck by a semitrailer at the intersection of U.S. Highway 63 and 240th Street, about two miles south of New Hampton. The patrol also says 24-year-old Latorris Duffie and 25-year-old Devin Gordin of Waterloo, Iowa were also killed. The accident was reported about 6:20 p.m. Tuesday.

All three were not wearing seatbelts, according to the patrol.

The accident occurred after the driver of the westbound car failed to yield to cross traffic at the intersection, and was struck by the northbound semitrailer, according to the patrol. The accident caused one passenger to be ejected from the vehicle.

The driver of the vehicle, 22-year-old Bertha Smith, and another passenger, 25-year-old Shaun Anderson, were hospitalized at Mason City Mercy Hospital. The patrol reports the truck driver, 43-year-old Kevin Powers, was uninjured.
