'Les Misérables'
Ends Sunday: Numerous characters bite it in the classic musical, but being 6 feet under doesn't stop their ghosts from belting show tunes about the fight for freedom and love. (One long ago touring company of "Les Miz" even wore T-shirts that proclaimed, "It's not over 'til the dead lady sings.") If you haven't seen the sweeping musical for several years, you may miss the turntable that used to drive the action, which has been replaced with lots of scenery. But you'll still appreciate all the great songs, including "I Dreamed a Dream," "At the End of the Day" and "Master of the House," as well as Nick Cartell's stirring delivery of Jean Valjean's heroic prayer, "Bring Him Home," and Paige Smallwood's version of lovelorn Eponine's "On My Own."
