Restaurant news: Kyatchi, Vivo Kitchen, BoneYard Kitchen & Bar, Yard House

There's a lot of ground to cover on the openings front.

Kyatchi (3758 Nicollet Av. S., Mpls., www.kyatchi.com) is up and running, focusing on sushi (prepared with an emphasis on sustainably raised seafood), along with ramen, robata, sake and Japanese-inspired hot dogs, served to midnight Sunday through Thursday and to 1 a.m. Friday and Saturday.

Apple Valley's latest is Vivo Kitchen (15435 Founders Lane, www.vivomn.com). Located in the former home of Enjoy!, the menu features a lengthy and eclectic list of pastas, pizzas, flatbreads, sandwiches, salads and seafood at lunch and dinner, along with a Sunday brunch buffet. The bar emphasizes bourbon, Scotch, rye and local craft beers.

The latest from Kaskaid Hospitality (Crave, Figlio, Union, Urban Eatery) is set to open on Friday.

BoneYard Kitchen & Bar (2841 Hennepin Av. S., Mpls., www.boneyarduptown.com) is promising a survey of Southern comfort food — smoked meats, fried chicken, shrimp and grits — and a bourbon-heavy bar, serving lunch, dinner and weekend brunch.

Not to be confused with BoneYard is Yard House (1667 Park Place Blvd., St. Louis Park, www.yardhouse.com), a fast-growing chain from Darden Restaurants, the corporation behind the Olive Garden, the Capital Grille and Red Lobster (for now, anyway, as the company plans to sell the seafood chain), and opening at the Shops at West End complex next Thursday.

The sprawling 300-seat operation is notable for its bar, which will tap a staggering 140 beers — is that a local record? — stored in a showy, glass-enclosed, 5,000-square-foot cooler. The kitchen offers a something-for-everyone selection at lunch, dinner and late-night.

Co-owners Mark and Lynn Satt have announced that the doors will close following dinner service on March 15.

The couple own the 36-year-old business but not the building, which is being replaced by a senior housing complex.

Two other dates of note: On Saturday, Mark Satt's band the JimTones are going to play a final party (Satt is the group's drummer), and the restaurant's last brunch is this Sunday.

As for a new location, "We're still looking," said Lynn Satt. "We thought we had something, but it fell through last week. What we'd really like to do is join up with an existing restaurant and run it. We have such a fabulous staff here, and we want to take them with us."
