While the NFL continues to investigate whether Brett Favre sent inappropriate pictures and messages to a former New York Jets sideline reporter in 2008, one company that uses the Vikings quarterback in its ad campaing has decided to scale back on how much it features him.
According to Front Row Analytics, a sponsorship evaluation firm, not a single Favre Wrangler ad aired on an NFL broadcast this past weekend. That is much different than the previous weekend when the Favre-Wrangler spots were seen on a regular basis despite the fact the Deadspin report about Favre and Jenn Sterger had been picked up by many media outlets.
Darren Rovell, a CNBC sports business reporter, wrote that Wrangler either replaced the Favre ads with spots using its other high-profile spokesman Dale Earnhardt Jr. or ran the Favre spots on niche channels, such as Versus, FX, Speed and the History Channel. Favre does remain on the Wranger website.
Favre is expected to meet with NFL Vice President of Security Milt Ahlerich on Tuesday in the Twin Cities as the league continues to look into the matter to see if Favre violated its personal conduct policy. At this point, Sterger has yet to talk to the NFL.
