Some big news just in for the Gophers football team.
Jeff Jones, a four-star junior running back from Minneapolis Washburn, has become Minnesota's first verbal commitment for 2014, GopherIllustrated.com reported today.
Jones rushed 111 times for 1,002 yards (9.0 Avg.) last season and scored 12 touchdowns, including three receiving. According to Rivals.com, he also has offers from Wisconsin, Iowa, Michigan State and Illinois.
"I think he's a legitimate, high-BCS caliber running back," Josh Helmholdt, the Midwest recruiting analyst for Rivals.com said in a recent interview. "So he's a guy who immediately jumps off the page at you."
