When: Third quarter, 10:33 left

Score: Redskins 13, Vikings 10

Situation: The Vikings had first-and-10 from their own 25 after the Redskins took the lead on a field goal.

The play: Toby Gerhart, playing a series after Adrian Peterson injured his left knee, burst down the left side for a 67-yard run, finally fumbling out of bounds at the Washington 8.

The result: Two plays later, Joe Webb scored a touchdown. But Gerhart's run breathed life into a team that was a bit stunned by the loss of its star running back.

NOT IN THE BOXSCORE

Looking ahead ... The Vikings are no longer in contention for the top pick in the 2012 NFL draft. They are now in line to pick third. ESPN's Mel Kiper rates the best available players: 1. Andrew Luck, QB, Stanford; 2. Matt Kalil, OT, Southern California; 3. Trent Richardson, RB, Alabama; 4. Morris Claiborne, CB, LSU; 5. Justin Blackmon, WR, Oklahoma State.

MANO-A-MANO
