RGIII CONTROVERSY SHOT DOWN

Washington coach Jay Gruden was upset at an ESPN report where reporter Britt McHenry said QB Robert Griffin III "alienated himself" from the locker room. The report said players were making so much noise that Griffin's meeting with the press Friday had to be moved from the team's locker room. Said Gruden: "It was an amateurish report. It was totally not true. … But we are in D.C., and it is Robert Griffin, and they're always going to try to tear him down and tear us down. But we're going to stay united as a locker room, and that's that. We're not going to let anybody get to us."

MANO-A-MANO

Vikings RT Phil Loadholt vs. Redskins DE Jarvis Jenkins

Jenkins had only two tackles in the game as "Big Phil" manhandled him, especially in second half running situations when Matt Asiata had three TD runs.

HAT TRICK FOR ASIATA

The third of Matt Asiata's touchdown runs was the game-winner. On third-and-goal from the 1 with 3:30 left, Asiata (44) took a handoff from QB Teddy Bridgewater (5) and was met by LB Will Compton (51). Asiata got forward enough to stretch the ball over the line.

THE QUOTE

"I came out with my legs moving and never gave up. Just tried to get that extra yard."
