One of Woodbury's busiest thoroughfares and intersections will be disrupted for four weeks as a segment of Radio Drive is repaved.
Washington County is planning to repave Radio Drive from just north of Donegal Drive, through the intersection with Valley Creek Road to just south of Pioneer Drive/Afton Road. The construction area affects the City Centre retail areas, Woodbury City Hall and Public Safety Building.
Work is expected to start on Sept. 27 and last four weeks.
The county will hold two meetings on Tuesday to discuss the project with residents and businesses. The first is from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m., and the second is from 5 to 7 p.m. Both are at Woodbury City Hall, 8301 Valley Creek Rd.
Part of the project will involve removing the asphalt down to the gravel base. Traffic will be reduced to a single lane during construction and all signalized intersections are expected to be operated as four-way stops. Access to businesses and residential areas will be available at all times, but significant impacts to traffic are expected.
During the first phase of construction, traffic will be shifted to the northbound lanes of Radio Drive while the southbound lanes are reconstructed. During phase two, traffic will shift to the southbound lanes so work can proceed on the northbound lanes.
Motorists should expect delays and, if possible, seek alternate routes.
