Don McGlynn, the Twin Cities native who has made more than a dozen music documentaries in his career, will be on hand Friday when the Edina Cinema opens"Rejoice and Shout," his film about the history of gospel music.See the trailer here.
The movie includes rare footage, lots of music, and interviews with the likes of Mavis Staples and Smokey Robinson. The live event starts at 7 p.m. and includes a post-movie Q&A with McGlynn, moderated by screenwriter and IFP instructor David Grant. The Edina is located at 3911 W. 50th St. in Edina.
