"American Idol" runnerup Adam Lambert has sold out the 2,100-seat Mystic Lake Showroom for June 12. Exactly a week earlier, Kris Allen, the singer America chose over Lambert in 2009, will perform at the Fine Line Music Cafe, which accommodates less than one-third as many people as Mystic Lake.
Did America make the right choice?
According to Billboard.com, Lambert's debut album has sold more than twice as many copies as Allen's (685,000 to 296,000), but the champ has received more radio spins and sells more downloads of singles.
Previous Idols Taylor Hicks and David Cook have performed at Mystic Lake Casino. Carrie Underwood will headline at the State Fair this year while Kelly Clarkson appears at Lilith Fair at Canterbury Park. Meanwhile, Allen will tour with Barenaked Ladies this summer.
Tickets to Allen's June 5 performance cost $25 in advance, $28 at the door.
