MADISON, Wis. — The University of Wisconsin System Board of Regents has named Mark Mone (Moh-NEE') as UW-Milwaukee's new chancellor.

The regents announced the hiring Monday. Mone has served as interim chancellor at the school since May after former Chancellor Michael Lovell left to become president at Marquette University.

Mone is a professor of management within the UW-Milwaukee's business school. He has been a member of the university's faculty since 1989.

He beat out two other finalists for the chancellor's job — Gail Hackett, provost and executive vice chancellor for academic affairs at the University of Missouri-Kansas City and William "Mike" Sherman, senior vice president, provost and chief operating officer at the University of Akron.
