Sixth District Democrat Maureen Reed announced today she is loaning $250,000 to her own campaign, pushing her total revenue over a million dollars. The move is proof that she is not leaving the race against Rep. Michele Bachmann, despite losing the DFL endorsement late last month.

Reed, a physician, said she raised $204,000 in the last three months, a far cry from DFL challenger Tarryl Clark's $505,000 in the same time period. Before the loan, Reed had raised $779,000 altogether. Clark has taken in about $1.1 million.

Both candidates are gunning to take on Bachmann, a Tea Party favorite who is expected to post her own numbers later today.

The race is drawing a lot of national attention because of Bachmann's penchant for controversial statements, and will likely attract more national money as Election Day draws near. Given that the Sixth District is notoriously conservative, however, it will take a lot for any Democrat to unseat Bachmann.

Reed Campaign Manager Jason Isaacson said her loan to the campaign "levels the playing field between Maureen and her Democratic challenger."
