Recount lawyers taking a Saturday field trip to Hennepin County

Emmer officials said they need to all the ballot challenges deemed frivolous in order to whittle down the stack

Every county is done counting, now comes to the time to check on what gubernatorial campaigns' challenges.

During the recount, which finished up Friday, Republican Tom Emmer local officials' determination on how ballots should be counted more than 2,800 times even though the local officials said the ballots were perfectly clear.

The Emmer campaign now says they want to whittle down that number.

The Republicans' attorneys, along with attorneys for Democrat Mark Dayton, will go to the Hennepin County government center Saturday to take another look at the so-called frivolous challenges in that county

Starting at 9 a.m. "the campaigns will review together, precinct by precinct, the Hennepin frivolous ballots," Hennepin County said in a news release.

Hennepin County finished counting late Friday. It was the last county to complete its hand recount of ballots.
