OK, so you thought you must had seen the worst last season?

Tonight's 42-point blowout loss set a franchise record, by one point over a 1996 game at Miami (Kevin Garnett's rookie year) and last November's unforgettable 146-105 loss at Golden State.

That's the only Wolves record that fell, although a couple dropped for the Magic.

The 78 first-half points scored was one shy of the 79 the Wolves allowed Phoenix in the first half last March in Phoenix.

But it was the most a Magic team has ever scored in a first half, three more than the 75 they put on Sacramento in January 2009.

Dwight Howard, who got into foul trouble and left the game for a good stretch after just two minutes, set a franchise record for most blocks in a quarter, blocking six in the third.

The Magic's 41 second-quarter points were one shy of the franchise record for that quarter, set twice.

The Wolves -- playing without Michael Beasley, Jonny Flynn and Martell Webster -- led 10-4 early, then allowed a 26-4 run and trailed 30-14 on a night when the Magic also led 50-20 and 70-36.

Some folks left at halftime.

By the fourth quarter, there were empty seats everywhere.

"We were clearly overmatched," Kurt Rambis said. "They've got better players and a better team."

The Magic's designated Timberwolf killer, Ryan Anderson, did it again.

He made a rare start at power forward in a move intended to neutralize Kevin Love (22 points, 9 rebounds) and made three straight threes that fueled that 26-4 run. He had four of the Magic's 15 total threes.

A couple other things:

* Darko's now shooting 14.2 percent (4 for 28) in these first five games. Tonight's 0 for 6er was the third time in those five that he hasn't made a field goal (Milwaukee and Miami) were the others.

Afterward, he was mystified and something about not being able to throw something in the ocean.

Where's Chris Webber and David Kahn when you need them?

* Nikola Pekovic fouled out for the first time after fighting foul trouble throughout his short NBA career so far. He played just under 14 minutes one night after he played a career-high 27 minutes and had 12 and 8 in Miami.

That's about all I got tonight from Orlando.

Who knows what tomorrow will bring?
