How far would you have to go to walk off a typical Thanksgiving meal?

Try 23.75 miles, or 47,500 steps.

How many calories?

The average Thanksgiving meal contains 2,375 calories, according to a handy chart provided by HealthPartners just in time for the holiday. "That's the amount of calories most people should consume in an entire day," says Brianne Solem, a health coach with JourneyWell, which runs wellness programs for HealthPartners.

But it's just one day, right?

It's also the start of holiday season. The average American gains 1 pound in the six weeks between Thanksgiving and New Year's, research suggests. That can add up over the years.

As an eviction crisis has seemed increasingly likely this summer, everyone in the housing market has made the same plea to Washington: Send money — lots of it — that would keep renters in their homes and landlords afloat.
