Readers' State Fair Deals

After my "12 Ways to Save at the Fair" column on Tuesday, readers sent in a few tips of their own.

The best tip in my column on Tuesday had me sending readers to the State Fair website, but people had trouble finding the the list of all the freebies and other deals for sunset Sundays, Thrifty Thursday Seniors Days and Kids Days. Go here.

Brett think the best food deals are at the church dining halls although he couldn't recall which one. Our restaurant reviewer Rick Nelson likes Salem Evangelical Lutheran at Cosgrove and Randall for hearty breakfasts and lunches at reasonable prices.

Olivia from Edina has purchases many, many products at the fair and yet only one stands out for her: the salsa maker aka The Kitchen Plus 2000 sold in the lower level of the Grandstand. It was $15 in 2000, the last time I checked.

I'm heading out to the fair now, looking to see how good those "state fair specials" really are. Let me know if you took advantage (or were taken advantage of) in years past.
