This booking photo provided by the Shreveport, La. Police Department shows rapper Rick Ross. Authorities said Ross, whose real name is William Roberts II, was arrested Friday, March 25, 2011 in Shreveport, La., on a charge of first-time possession of marijuana after police responded to a complaint about the smell of marijuana coming from a hotel room. He was issued a misdemeanor summons and released after Friday night's arrest. (AP Photo/Shreveport Police Department)

Emphasis added to highlight amusing facts. Reuters says:

Someone complained that they smelled marijuana coming from his room. Possibly his PR manager. You need arrests like this to maintain your legitimacy. He was booked and released on a misdemeanor, which will no doubt add to his mystique as one hard thug-4-life you'd best not cross:

Don't you all understand? He had no choice but to take a legitimate job. He needed the money for his family. But he made an oath: as soon as he was back on his feet he'd go back to selling drugs. His credibility as a man was at stake. His very self-respect. Anyway, take a look at his wikipedia page for more details, including his "Feud" with 50 cent.

That correctional officer stuff has got to sting.
