RandBall's Week 7 Fantasy Football Challenge

October 22, 2015 at 2:07AM

Week 7 of the Page 2 Fantasy Football Challenge is upon us. Each week, a guest picker chooses a QB, RB and WR. The only players off-limits are those selected by the previous week's guest picker. The guest — Dave Handeland, the stat guru for WCCO on Timberwolves radio broadcasts and a self-described "Minnesota sports homer used to "repetitive heartbreak" — will go against the Star Tribune's Michael Rand, who is not allowed to pick anyone projected to score in the top 10 by NFL.com at their respective positions:

Dave Handeland's WEEK 7 FANTASY PICKS

QB: Andrew Luck, Colts

NFL.com QB projection: No. 5

Matchup: Saints

Luck finally looked like himself vs the Patriots (312 yards, three TDs). I think he'll build off that Sunday night performance at home vs the Saints. If Luck plays well, Indianapolis won't depend on trying a fake punt again.

RB: Todd Gurley, Rams

St. Louis Rams running back Todd Gurley (30) runs the ball against the Green Bay Packers during an NFL football game Sunday, Oct. 11, 2015, in Green Bay, Wis. The Packers won 24-10. (Jeff Haynes/AP Images for Panini) ORG XMIT: MIN2015102118511052

NFL.com RB projection: No. 14

Matchup: Browns

Gurley has 320 total yards in his previous two games (Arizona and Green Bay). Off a bye, he gets Cleveland. The Browns run defense has been horrid the past two weeks. Yes, please!

WR: Antonio Brown, Steelers

NFL.com WR projection: No. 3

Matchup: Chiefs

Brown has totaled just eight catches in the past two weeks. No matter who Pittsburgh uses at QB this week, Brown's now 'Vick-less' and that's a positive. KC has allowed the most WR scores this year.

MICHAEL RAND's WEEK 7 FANTASY PICKS

QB: Eli Manning, Giants

(The Minnesota Star Tribune)

NFL.com QB projection: No. 18

Matchup: Cowboys

Manning put up a clunker on Monday Night Football against the Eagles, though all anyone cared about anyway was the halftime preview of the new Star Wars movie. I say the force will be strong within Eli against Dallas.

RB: DeMarco Murray, Eagles

NFL.com RB projection: No. 11

Matchup: Panthers

I'm going to ride the hot hand and roll with Murray for a second consecutive week. When you're 1-5, you try not to fix the things that aren't broken, and Murray is one of them.

WR: Larry Fitzgerald Jr., Cardinals

NFL.com WR projection: No. 13

Matchup: Ravens

It's amazing how strong quarterback play from Carson Palmer has changed the narrative on Fitzgerald. He's on pace to set career highs in a number of categories, and he'll keep it going Sunday.

SCOREBOARD WEEK 6 FANTASY RECAP (USING NFL.COM DEFAULT SCORING METHOD)

Winner: Will Ragatz — Tom Brady (22.5), Devonta Freeman (27.6), DeAndre Hopkins (26.8). Total: 76.9.

Loser: Michael Rand — Joe Flacco (17.7), DeMarco Murray (18.3), A.J. Green (3.6). Total: 39.6.

Overall standings: Guest pickers 5-1.
