RandBall: FiveThirtyEight.com projection: Wolves will win 46 times

October 21, 2016 at 6:12AM

The site FiveThirtyEight.com, which you probably know more from checking it once every 12 seconds for election updates, does not merely #sticktopolitics.

Instead, Nate Silver and his crew also delve into the world of sports forecasting. If you believe in their models and you believe in the Timberwolves, their NBA forecast is a harmonious convergence of those two things.

The site has the Wolves pegged for 46 victories this season, which would give them one of the 10 best records in the league. For their trouble, they are given a 72 percent chance of making the postseason.

FiveThirtyEight even gives the Wolves a 2 percent chance of winning the NBA title.

As if we needed any reminders, though, Golden State dominates the projections: 68 wins, a better than 99 percent chance of making the playoffs and a staggering 55 percent chance of winning the NBA title.
