A Ramsey County jury on Thursday convicted James Davis-Drew of second-degree murder in the shooting death of a man found in an alley in St. Paul's Frogtown neighborhood.

Davis-Drew, 26, was charged in October in the death of 20-year-old Erick Renada Pineda Ordonez of St. Paul. Ordonez was killed after giving a ride to Davis-Drew and two other men.

Police found Ordonez's body slumped over the door of a car registered to him. He died from four gunshot wounds. A fingerprint from the inside handle of the front passenger door of Ordonez's car matched the known print for Davis-Drew, who was sentenced in 2008 to more than four years in prison for first-degree aggravated robbery.

Police also found a wallet belonging to Ordonez inside a grill in the front yard of 639 Van Buren Av., where Davis-Drew sometimes stayed.

The jury found Davis-Drew guilty of intentional second-degree murder and second-degree murder while committing first-degree aggravated robbery with a firearm. He was acquitted of aiding and abetting second-degree murder. He is scheduled to be sentenced Aug. 15.
