Ramps closing at Cedar-35E this week

June 29, 2013 at 11:32PM

Another stage in the aggravation of south-metro drivers begins on Monday.

Ramps leading from one major thoroughfare, Cedar Avenue, to another, southbound Hwy. I-35E, will close for one week as part of a wider project to redo the freeway.

Crews are working on southbound I-35E between the I-35 split and Cedar.

In addition to the ramp closures, there will be a traffic shift north of Cedar. Traffic will be moved to a single lane in each direction on the northbound side of the interstate to Cliff Road.

Weather permitting, the ramp from Cedar to southbound 35E will reopen by late on July 8, the following Monday.

Both northbound and southbound traffic will stay just single lane in each direction through mid-July. Speed limits fall to 55 miles per hour in the work zone.

As an eviction crisis has seemed increasingly likely this summer, everyone in the housing market has made the same plea to Washington: Send money — lots of it — that would keep renters in their homes and landlords afloat.
