The Minnesota Department of Transportation has announced a series of closings in connection with late-summer road and sidewalk construction projects in the north metro.
• Eastbound Minnesota Hwy. 610 to southbound Hwy 252: From 8 o'clock tonight until 5 a.m. Friday, motorists will be detoured along a loop to East River Road and westbound Hwy 610, then back to Hwy 252. The closure is part of shoulder reconstruction work along Hwy. 252.
• Minnesota Hwy. 47: From Tuesday, Sept. 7, through the end of October, 13 alternate pedestrian ramps between 44th Avenue in Columbia Heights and 85th Avenue in Blaine, may be closed for as many as three days at a time, as MnDOT installs new pedestrian curb ramps and concrete sidewalks, including striping and adding sidewalk texture to aid sight-impaired pedestrians. In some cases, the refurbished corners also will include audio signals and catch basins. Pedestrians will be directed to the closest open crossing. Motor traffic will not be disrupted.
• Westbound I-694 to northbound Minnesota Hwy. 252: Starting at 12 a.m. next Wednesday, drivers will be detoured to loop at the I-694/Hwy. 169 interchange through Sept. 12, for the last stage of shoulder and concrete work. Off-peak lane closures will continue as needed through September.
In addition, the ramp from northbound Hwy. 252 to I-694 will reopen at midnight tonight, along with the loops from westbound I-694 to southbound Hwy. 252/I-94 and from eastbound I-694 to northbound Hwy. 252.
