Radical Recess

Thursday: It's a dance happy hour in downtown Minneapolis as Hennepin Theatre Trust launches this series featuring some of the Twin Cities' top independent choreographers and dance companies performing in unconventional spaces. The festivities kick off with local duo Hijack (Arwen Wilder and Kristin Van Loon) and dance company Black Label Movement taking over Mayo Clinic Square on Block E on Thursday. Part of the trust's Reflection: Made Here project, the series is curated by Laurie Van Wieren and April Sellers, who have chosen 10 choreographic voices to add some movement into the holiday hustle and bustle. Radical Recess will continue the first week of each month at different locations such as City Center and IDS Center, with guests including Ananya Dance Theatre, Rosy Simas Dance, Anna Marie Shogren and more. (3:30-8:30 p.m. Thu., Mayo Clinic Square, 600 Hennepin Av. S., Mpls., free, hennepintheatretrust.org.)
