Paul Allen has sat in the announcer's booth at Canterbury Park for the past 14 years. He said the Lady Canterbury, the 10th race on Saturday's card, was the deepest and most competitive field he has ever seen run on this track.
"I kind of knew leading up to the race we'd have a longshot win it," Allen said. "Quiet Queen lived up to that billing."
Quiet Queen, a 15-1 morning- line longshot ridden by Tracy Herbert, won the $100,000 Lady Canterbury.
Quiet Queen won by a neck over Angel Smoke in 1 minute, 34.99 seconds. Tears I Cry finished third.
