Quick Q&A: Kit Ruedy, Hastings soccer

Ruedy is expecting another busy school year as she enters her senior campaign at Hastings. She is one of the 10 returning regulars on the girls' soccer team. The midfielder/defender also plays hockey in the winter and is a pole vaulter on the track team in the spring.

Three words or phrases my friends or teammates might use to describe me: Outgoing; optimistic; easygoing.

What are your three favorite apps? Instagram; Snapchat; Twitter.

Who do you like to follow the most on Twitter, and why? I love to follow teammate Jesse Risch. She always has something clever to say.

At my first varsity practice, I felt … extremely nervous, like I had to do everything perfect.

What is your favorite meal before a game? Well, it used to be Panera's macaroni and cheese, but it's closed now in Hastings, so it's definitely the chicken bacon ranch melt from Subway.

How do you balance school and sports during the school year? I try and stay really organized with my schedule and plan ahead on when I should work on projects — that doesn't always work well, though. When I get home from practice, the first thing I do is eat dinner and then open up my backpack to do homework. I do my homework until I go to bed.

When you have time off during vacation, what do you like to do? I absolutely love wake boarding and tubing. If I can just have a sunny day on the lake, that's perfect for me.

Do you have a secret talent — and if so, what is it? I can make my tongue look like a clover. I think it looks pretty cool.

In 10 years, I hope I'm … graduated from college and happy with the career I decided to pursue. Hopefully, close to having a family, too.
