Quick Q&A

BRADY ANDERSON

STILLWATER, SR.

SWIMMING

Anderson hails from a swimming family. His mother, Erin, and sister Kaela swam for the University of Minnesota.

Events: I swim the 100 butterfly and 100 backstroke. Wherever the team needs me.

Are those your favorite events?

Yes. It's always more fun to race people in some of your favorite events.

Biggest high school rival: I think East Ridge would be that team. They're really good. They're putting in the work over the summer and it shows in the high school season.

Which team is better? That depends. As an overall program, we've been more successful, but head-to-head, they can be a challenge.

What is most important to being a successful swimmer? You have to be mentally strong. Two-and-a-half-hour practices and you still have to do homework on top of that.

How tough is it getting into a pool when it's so cold outside?

That takes a lot of mental strength, especially with 7 a.m. practices.

What is the bigger meet, the True Team or the state meet? I think our best chance for success is at the True Team meet. To me, that's the biggest meet. Obviously, if you're a swimmer with individual goals, the state meet is the biggest.

Your biggest swimming thrill? I got the chance to swim in the same meet as [Olympian] Ryan Lochte. I swam in the same warmup lane as him. That was kind of cool.

Advice for younger swimmers: Have fun. You don't need to worry about times at a young age. Learn to enjoy the sport and the times will follow.

Playing without both Rudy Gobert and Naz Reid, the Wolves attempted some new lineups, with little success.
