Quick morning update from Nashville

The winter meetings wrap up today with the Rule 5 draft. The Twins will not be active

Good morning from Nashville. The Rule 5 draft is just about to start. But here's a little update.

The Twins aren't packing about finding a lefthanded reliever. ``Is today Opening Day?" one official asked me. While the the Twins aren't that interested in Tony Sipp or Antonio Bastardo, they are looking at darn near every other lefty out there.

Sipp agreed to a new deal with Houston, his current team.

They are keeping tabs on Jerry Blevins and Matt Thornton, and like Thornton a little more than Blevins.

The Rule 5 draft has just started. The Twins will sit this one out. People who know more about these things than I do believe that Zack Jones will be drafted from the Twins organization, and Luke Bard might be selected as well. Will check in later.
