Q&A with Rachel Schallhorn Tartan, swimming
How long have you been swimming for Tartan? This is my sixth year. I started in seventh grade. It's gone by really fast.

How important is swimming to you? For me, it goes family, school, swimming. Being a senior, I get so emotional about this being my last year.
Most memorable high school moment: I don't remember the year, but it was the year we beat North St. Paul for the first time in years.
So you prefer team success over individual? Yes. When you're working together as a team, it makes everything more exciting.
First swimming memory: I showed up for my first day of practice in a cute, tiny little suit with no cap and no goggles. I had so much fun.
Do you ever get tired of smelling like chlorine? It's weird, but I used to say I love the smell of chlorine in the morning.
Swimming is ... My past, my now and my future.
Strangest swimming occurrence: In seventh grade, my shoulder popped out of its socket in the middle of a stroke. I was too scared to tell the coach. I had to ask my teammates, "Does my arm look funny?"
If you couldn't swim ... I'd become a swimming superfan. You'd see me at all the meets.
