The Anoka County Sheriff's Office is seeking the public's help in finding a suspect who robbed a 61-year-old man at a bank ATM after spraying him in the face with a chemical irritant.

The incident happened just after 4 p.m. Saturday at the U.S. Bank at 3445 Bunker Lake Blvd. NW. in Andover.

The victim told deputies that he was using the ATM inside the vestibule of the bank when a suspect entered the space, sprayed him in the face with an aerosol irritant believed to be Mace or a similar substance and demanded his money. The man said fought back briefly, then relinquished the money after again being sprayed in the face.

The suspect is described as a white male in his late teens or early 20s with a medium build, wearing a navy blue Nike hoodie with a light blue hood and sleeves.

A man matching that description was seen either riding a bicycle or skateboard through the adjoining strip mall just before the robbery. U.S. Bank security cameras also captured images of the suspect.

"I am confident that this robbery suspect will be caught and that justice will be served," Anoka County Sheriff James Stuart said in a news release. Anyone with information is asked to call 763-427-1212.
