Two people on a dirt bike crashed into a barb-wire fence along a road southwest of the Twin Cities, and both were hospitalized Sunday in critical condition, authorities said.

The crash occurred about 11 p.m. Saturday on westbound Lake Sanborn Road, about 7 miles south of New Prague, according to the Le Sueur County Sheriff's Office.

The driver, Brian E. Svoboda, 30, of Montgomery, and passenger Taylor K. Bonstom, 21, of, Prior Lake, were both taken by air ambulance to Regions Hospital. A hospital spokeswoman said they were critical condition Sunday afternoon.

Svoboda's driving record in Minnesota since 2006 includes four speeding violations, two convictions for drunken driving and a careless-driving offense.
