The Prince celebration will continue at Rock the Garden this year. Fresh off Friday's Paisley Park gigs, his "Purple Rain"-era bandmates in the Revolution are among the names newly announced to join Bon Iver at this year's big music fest July 22 outside Walker Art Center.

Other acts on the 2017 lineup will include New Orleans' hard-boogying rock genius Benjamin Booker, wryly poetic indie-rock wunderkinds Car Seat Headrest and "You and I" rocker Margaret Glaspy. The festival will also feature an all-local second stage located in the Walker's newly refurbished sculpture garden, with Dave Simonett's rocky Trampled by Turtles offshoot Dead Man Winter, bombastic teen punks Bruise Violet and prolific 23-year-old rapper Dwynell Roland.

Both Booker and Glaspy went over well in recent summers at Festival Palomino. Booker also debuted wild new material at last month's South by Southwest Music Conference, adding to anticipation for his overdue second record, coming in early June. Car Seat Headrest was rather dudly and discombobulated in its Triple Rock set last year, but Will Toldeo and his band put out one of the most deservedly acclaimed records of last year.

Dead Man Winter could use a nice, cheery summer gig like RTG, following last week's news that a large swath of the band's personal gear, equipment and money was stolen out of its van at a tour date in St. Lous. A GoFundMe campaign was started and has already raised more than $20,000.

The Revolution is playing tour dates through the summer following last week's shows for the Celebration at Paisley Park, which shut out many local fans with its $500-$1,000 passes. Tickets to the band's three emotional shows at First Avenue last September also sold out right away.

Almost two-thirds of the tickets to RTG 2017 were already sold during a two-day stretch after Bon Iver was announced in December. The rest will go on sale for Walker and Minnesota Public Radio members starting Wednesday at 10 a.m. for $69 via RocktheGardenFestival.com.
