What Prince pioneered in Minneapolis in 2007, he tried again Tuesday in Los Angeles — three shows in one city in the same day.

There was a difference, though. In Minneapolis on 7/7/07, the gigs were in three separate places downtown (Macy's auditorium, Target Center and First Avene). In L.A., all three performances took place on the House of Blues property on Sunset Strip.

Tickets were sold the day before, indicating the time but not the location of the three small-audience gigs, which followed a run of 17 nights at the L.A. Forum arena.

The schedule called for an 8 p.m. show in the Music Hall of the Hollywood club. At 11 p.m., the House of Blues' Jazz Cafe became Prince's haunt. At 1 a.m., he was slated for the very exclusive Foundation Room in the House of blues..

@DrFunkenberry, a devoted Prince follower and tenacious tweeter, tweeted that among the stars at the shows were Tom Cruise, Dan Aykroyd, Tony from No Doubt, Cornel West, David Spade, Tavis Smiley, Bono and, of course, Charlie Sheen. The second show opened with "The Star Spangled Banner."

Hey, it's bed time in Minne. Look for an update on Thursday...
