The Purple One is picking up his pen.
Prince will be writing a memoir expected to come out in fall 2017, according to Pitchfork, Rolling Stone and other news reports Friday.
The memoir, to be published by Spiegel & Grau, a Random House imprint, was described as "an unconventional and poetic journey through his life and creative work," the reports said, citing a release from Spiegel & Grau.
Spiegel & Grau Executive Editor Chris Jackson called Prince "a towering figure in global culture."
Giving another indication of what the memoir will be, Jackson added: "We're thrilled to be publishing Prince's powerful reflections on his own life in his own incandescently vivid, witty and poetic voice."
At an event Friday night in New York City on Friday night that the book's working title is "The Beautiful Ones" and that it would start with his first memory.
Why now? According to the Associated Press, Prince told the New York crowd that the publishers made him "an offer I can't refuse."
The 57-year-old Minneapolis-born Prince is one of the most successful musical acts of all-time. He has released four albums in the past 18 months, including two on the Tidal streaming service last year.
