"Prep," playwright and screenwriter Tracey Scott Wilson's well-received drama that premiered this fall at Pillsbury House Theatre in Minneapolis, has added performances through the weekend.
The drama, a brisk one-act revolving around a teacher and two pf her students in an under-resourced, socially precarious environment, stars Ryan Colbert (left), Kory LaQuess Pullam, and Jodi Kellogg (photo by Rich Ryan).
Scott is a writer for the FX series "The Americans." "Prep" marks her third play, and four production, under the aegis of the south Minneapolis theater. ("The Story" was produced once while "Buzzer" was staged twice, both times for Pillsbury House Theatre at the Guthrie.)
All of Wilson's works in the Twin Cities, including "Prep," have been staged by Obie-winner Marion McClinton. It has been a rewarding partnership. "Prep," which also shows the affects of race-based policies on young people of color, has been called "gripping, honest and well-paced."
The show closes Oct. 25.
