MATT TODD

The Magic senior point guard is at his best distributing the ball.

That doesn't mean Todd won't drive to the basket for a layup or knock down a three-pointer against an opponent. He recently surpassed 2,000 career points, and is on the verge of becoming the school's all-time leading scorer (boys or girls).

Grace Sawatzke is the girls' school record holder with 2,014 career points while Nate Holmstadt owns the boys' mark at 2,106. Todd has 2,004.

"The hard work he's put in is paying off," Monticello coach Jason Schmidt said. " I'm excited to see him chase down Nate Holmstadt's school record."

Todd is averaging 29 points, 5.4 rebounds, 6.3 assists and 4.7 steals for the Magic (5-2). He set the school record for points in a single-game last year when he netted 52 against Buffalo. His high this season is 45 in a four-point loss to Orono.

"Matt's work ethic and leadership have pushed our program to an extremely high level," Schmidt said.

The senior forward had a hat trick, scoring the Cougars' first three goals, in a 4-2 victory over Burnsville. She was coming off a two-goal outing in a 5-0 triumph over Chaska/Chanhassen. "Josie is one of those players coaches love to coach," Lakeville South mentor Mark Johnson said.

DOLAN CRAINE

He had a record-setting day when the Storm Hawks topped Class 2A, No. 8 Wayzata 99-81 in a home dual meet. Craine set pool records in the 100-yard breaststroke (59.12 seconds) and 200 individual medley (1:54.37) after helping the 200 medley relay squad to yet another record (1:36.98).

KRYSTAL CARLSON

Hastings • basketball

Carlson is the main reason the Raiders are off to a 6-1 start. The school's all-time leading scorer and rebounder registered a triple-double (28 points, 18 rebounds and 10 steals) in a 72-57 triumph over Prescott (Wis.).

JACOB ERICKSON

Minneapolis • hockey

Jacob Erickson of Minneapolis

Coach Joe Dziedzic says Erickson "has a nose for the net." He proved just that with a hat trick in a 3-2 upset victory over Class 1A, No. 2 Orono. The senior forward has 17 goals on the season. "He wants to score more than anyone, and is willing to pay the price to do it," Dziedzic said.

ADREANNA WILLODSON

Anoka • gymnastics

The ninth-grader led Anoka to consecutive dual meet wins by taking first in the all-around competition as she continues to battle back from a string of injuries. "She is a natural athlete who is explosive," Anoka coach Amy Hedberg said.

ANTHONY DAVIS

Hopkins • basketball

The senior guard turned in his best outing of the season in the championship game of the TCO Holiday Classic at Augsburg. Davis netted 31 points in the title tilt, an impressive 92-75 victory over Minnehaha Academy. He was chosen the MVP of the three-day event.
