LUKE TURNQUIST

After scoring two goals in the first period of the Panthers' 7-0 victory over Irondale on Thursday, the senior right wing felt pretty satisfied. Four more goals in the second period confirmed it was a special night. "All the guys were talking about it in the locker room between the second and third periods," Turnquist said.
He added another in the third period, completing a game for the record books.
Turnquist's seven goals tied a Minnesota State High School League record for the second-most goals by a player in a single game. It's the most for a player who scored all of his teams' goals.
"I was sitting in class [Friday] thinking about that," he said. "I was wondering: How do I follow something like that up?"
He didn't need to, going scoreless in a 3-1 victory over Totino-Grace on Saturday. One game, seven goals. No need to get greedy.
"[Current St. Louis Blues forward] David Backes had the old team record with five goals," he said. "To break the record set by such a great player, it's kind of crazy to think about."
Turnquist lead the Panthers with 28 goals on the season.
