Prep athletes of the week: Andover's Langlie accentuates positive on golf course

As the miserable spring weather lingered, Langlie fell back on her greatest strength to get prepared for the season.

"My strongest point is positive thinking," the junior said. "Even though the weather was pretty bad, I kept thinking about what was going to be good. Positive thoughts, positive outcome."

Clearly Langlie is onto something.

Andover finally played its first three meets of the season last week and Langlie won all three. Her most impressive outing was the first, when she shot an 80 to win the 114-player Elk River Invitational.

"In all the years I've played there, that's my first time placing and it just happened to be in first place," Langlie said. "So that was pretty awesome."

She also shot a 1-over-par 37 to win a dual meet at Edinburgh USA and a 2-over 39 in cold, windy conditions to win a triangular at Bunker Hills.

Langlie insisted her ability to adapt to tough conditions was her biggest advantage.

Taking over as the Packers' No. 1 catcher as a freshman, Barnes clearly was not overwhelmed. In four games — three of them victories — she was 10-for-13, including going 7-for-7 with two homers, two triples and two doubles in a doubleheader split against Richfield.

The senior attack wing had a season's worth of offensive production in only four games last week. She had seven goals, including the game-winner with 5.5 seconds left, in a 14-13 victory over Centennial. In four victories, DeJoy had 21 goals and three assists.

The junior third baseman was the centerpiece of a Royals offense that averaged more than six runs in four games last week. He went 7-for-12 with three RBI, three runs scored and two walks. Dalton is hitting .522 this season.

An unorthodox batting stance (due to peripheral vision problems) didn't hold back Osseo's leadoff hitter. She was a perfect 15-for-15 at the plate, with six doubles and two triples, as Osseo extended its winning streak to four. Feigh is hitting .960 (24-for-25) this season.

The senior pitcher hurled a complete-game shutout in a 2-0 victory over Providence Academy, scattering three hits while striking out 18. In three games at the plate, he went 5-for-9 with a grand slam and eight RBI.
