Last week Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday I pre-fished another lakethat I had never been on. This time the Holcombe Flowage was thedestination. Cut off for pre-fishing was Sunday the 17th, and I had atournament the 16th so I needed to fish mid week.
All I can say is what a fishery!! I put the boat in the water at 7am,and by 8:30 my biggest 5 bass were over 21 lbs. Three were smallies andtwo were largemouth. The picture posted is a sampling of thefootball shaped bass in that lake - not too often you see a 19.5" bassweigh 5 lbs 4 ounces.
I found 2 prevalent patterns that carried me threw 30+ waypoints in 3days. When pre-fishing was all said and done, my biggest 5 fish onTuesday were 22+ lbs, Wednesday 24 lbs and Thursday over 20lbs with onefish on each of my first 5 spots (20 minutes) before I tried to findsomething, anything else.
My major discovery on Thursday wasobvious post-spawn tail on several fish - this made me lean towardsmallies for tournament day coming up on the 23rd. The crazy thingabout Thursday, is 4 out of the 7 keepers I boated, simply wouldn't letgo of the bait (a Super K Jig), even tough the hook was cut off below the barb!
