Powerful Storm Hits Northwest

A large, powerful ocean storm will roar into the Northwest and southernBritish Columbia later Saturday night into Sunday. The worst of the storm willbe felt late Saturday night and Sunday morning.Winds greater than 60 mph can be expected during the height of the stormfrom the Oregon coastline northward. The coastal mountains and Cascade rangewill also experience exceedingly high winds.

The storm will also produce a drenching, wind-driven rain which will beheaviest from Eureka, Calif., to Vancouver Island. Through that entire stretchof western North America, rainfall amounts will average 1 to 3 inches thisweekend. The snow level will lower from 6,000 feet Saturday to 5,000 feetSunday, though remain above pass level.
