The southern Appalachians through the Northeast could be dealing with asnowstorm this weekend, as a storm moving out of the Gulf of Mexico meets upwith just enough cold air to the north. At this point in time, there are two scenarios with the track of this storm. Ifthe storm fails to link up with a second storm dropping into the Midwest, itwill likely continue tracking out into the Atlantic with little, if any, impactin terms of snowfall. If the two storms do link up, the main storm over theGulf of Mexico will parallel the East Coast during the weekend and intensify, resulting in a potentially heavy, windblown snowstorm for parts of theNortheast. It may even be cold enough for snow all the way to the coastal areasof the Northeast.

If the storm does intensify and stays close to the coast, it would bring snowto the southern Appalachians on Saturday and into the Northeast on Sunday. Staytuned for additional updates through the week.
