Postgame: Thoughts on Roark, roster moves and Sano

The Twins dropped to 5-13 after losing to the Nationals on Saturday and are in danger of getting swept in the three-game series.

Here are three thoughts after the Twins loss to Washington:

TANNER "THE EXPRESS" ROARK: The Twins were flummoxed by his fastball on Saturday. Well, that and some timely changeups. Of the 78 strikes he threw, 32 were called strikes and 14 elicited swings and misses. The rest were outs, fouls and the two hits. The Twins took so many of his pitches for strikes they must have been confused, Roark was that nasty or Jim Joyce had a whacky strike zone. And a couple of Joyce's calls were puzzling.

ROSTER MOVE: The Twins have until May 1 to call up David Murphy or he can become a free agent. But he's batting only .156 through nine games at Class AAA Rochester. This will be interesting. They seemed determined a week ago to sent an outfielder down. Since then Miguel Sano and Eddie Rosario have begun to heat up. Byron Buxton would be a candidate, but it seems like the Twins want him to learn how to hit up here. (man, he needs to cut down on the strikeouts). Oswaldo Arica is out of options. Max Kepler will probably be sent down when Danny Santana is ready to come off the DL on Monday. So who goes?

SANO AT THIRD: He fielded the two balls that were hit to him on Saturday. Don't get used to him there. The Twins will have Eduardo Nunez and Santana to play there starting Monday.
