Postgame: Cuddyer hopes latest injury doesn't keep him out of lineup long

Twins outfielder nailed on the wrist by a pitch in the first inning. It sounded bad.

As if the Twins need another injury concern.

Baltimore righthander Jeremy Guthrie nailed Twins outfielder Michael Cuddyer in the left wrist with a pitch in the first inning, and the sound could be heard all the way up to the pressbox.

``I thought it was broken or shattered or something,'' Cuddyer said. ``The way it felt, the way is sounded, it was ugly.''

But X-Rays taken at Target Field were negative. Cuddyer will have a MRI exam on Thursday.

``Hopefully, it was not broken,'' Cuddyer said, ``and, hopefully, I will be back out there soon.''

Cuddyer missed nine games with a sore neck earlier this month before returning on Monday for the start of the series against Baltimore.

It's the latest development on a team that has been inundated with injuries this season. Tsuyoshi Nishioka remains out with a sore back, so manager Ron Gardenhire could be down two starters tomorrow as the Twins try to avoid being swept by Orioles.
