Friday: Ready for a flashback? Songs from "American Beauty" and "Workingman's Dead," arguably the Grateful Dead's best studio albums (both released in 1970), will be interpreted by a seasoned cast of roots musicians. Featured will be Americana ace Jim Lauderdale (who just put out an album of bluegrass songs co-written with Dead lyricist Robert Hunter), versatile vocal powerhouse Catherine Russell (above, seen last year with Boz Scaggs, Donald Fagen and Michael McDonald at the State Fair), stellar old-timey folk-blues-gospel ensemble Ollabelle and multi-instrumentalist and mandolin star David Mansfield (who has toured with Bob Dylan and Bruce Hornsby). Expect an evening of "Sugar Magnolia," "Ripple," "Truckin'" and tie-dye.
