Close to where an early morning club shooting claimed two lives in north Minneapolis, police Friday spent about nine hours trying to negotiate with a possible armed man. According to scanner reports, the man was taken into custody a little before 9 p.m.

About 11:30 a.m., police responded to a house in the 3800 block of Aldrich Ave. N. on a call that a man had stepped outside a house and fired a gun, according to Sgt. Steve McCarty of the Minneapolis Police. By the time police arrived, the man was no longer outside. Negotiators are trying to talk to the man, McCarty said. The man is believed to be alone, McCarty said.

Police cordoned off an area between 37th to 41st Avenues N. and Aldrich to Colfax Avenues N. for much of the day.
